Isang mahalagang sangkap nang sector agrikultural ay ang paghahayupan at kabilang sa mga napakahalagang hayop na inaalagaan ng tao ay ang kalabaw lalo sa ating mga bukirin.

Bagaman di na gaanong nagagamit sa lupa dahil na rinsa biyaya ng makabagong mekanisasyon gayunpaman ay napaka importante pa rin ang ginagampanang papel nitong kalabaw sa ating buhay sa kabukiran.

Ang ating maituturing na pampansang hayop ay nakapagbibigay tulong sa tao sa pamamagitan ng kanyang gatas at karne sa tulong ng ating mga dalubhasa at ng makabagong agham at teknolohiya sa bahagi ng DNA, animal biotechnology at cross breeding.

Sa kabila nang tinatamasa ng malalaki at establisadong taniman kung saan gumagamit ng mga makinarya sa kanilang ekta ektaryang tanima, ang ating kalabaw naman ay nakapagbibigay ng litro-litrong gatas na di lamang iniinom ng tao kundi nagagamit rin sa ibat ibang produktong nakakalat na ngayon sa pamilihan.

Pinakikinabangan ng ating mga kababayan bilang karagdagang kumikitang ikinabubuhay nila sa pang araw araw sa kabila nang nakapagbibigay pa sa kanila ng kalusugan pangangatawan.

Bunsod nito ay patuloy pa ring isinusulong ng pamahalaan lalo ng Kagawaran ng Agrikultura at ng Agham at Teknolohiya ang pangangalaga at pagpaparami sa kalabaw ngayon di lang bilang isang mapagkakatiwalaang katulong sa bukid kundi bilang pagkain at inumin, kendi atbpa.

Nitong Ika-25 hanggang 27 taong 2015 sa Philippine Carabao Center ng Department of Agriculture na matatagpuan sa Bgy. Maligaya, Science City of Munoz, Nueva Ecija sa pakikipagtulungan ng Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (PCAARRD) ng Departemnt of Science and Technology ay isinasagawa ang kanilang aktibidad na tinaguriang “pistang kalabaw”. Mga hamon, oportunidad at inobasyon sa pagsasaliksik pangkalusugan ang humigit kumulang sa nilalaman ng ika tatlumput tatlong selebrasyon nang anibersaryo ng Philippine Council for Health research and Development ng Department of Science and Technology at kaugnay nito ang napipintong Association of South East Asian Nation Integration nagyong taong 2015.

Binuksan ni Dr. Jaime C. Montoya, Executive Director ng PCHRD DOST ang forum kasunod ang mga mensahe nina DOST Secretary Mario G. Montejo at ni Department of Health Secretary Dr. Janette Loretto-Garin na inirepresenta ni DOH Undersecretary Dr. Vicente Belizario kasunod ang isang makabuluhang presentasyon ukol sa pagsasaliksik sa panahon ang ASEAN Integration sa mga bahagi ng kalusugan, ekonomiya, agham at teknolohiya.

Celebrating the 50th year of fruitful relationship between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Philippines culminates in a seminar held last February 20, 2015 at the GT Toyota Amphitheatre inside the ASEAN center of the University of the Philippines in Diliman Quezon City.

The activity started out with the arrival of guests from the diplomatic corps and the academe represented by students from various universities and colleges invited by the Cultural Section of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Manila with representatives from the Philippines’ Department of Foreign Affairs.

Both National Anthems were sung to formally start the activity followed by a welcoming remark from the University of the Philippines System President Alfredo Pascual with messages from the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Ambassador extraordinary and Plenipotentiary H. E. Ali Ashgar Mohammadi wherein both talked about Iran and Philippines contribution to culture, arts and education coupled with diplomatic relationship that spans fifty years in the making.

An overview of the conference, what to expect from speakers and the contents of the entirety of the activity was presented by the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Cultural Councilor Dr. Kiyomars Amiri while the Adviser to the Ministry of Culture, Islamic Guidance and Deputy Head of Organization for Culture and Islamic Communications Dr. Gharaman Solimani brought the keynote address that revolved around how Iran and the Philippines went on becoming allies politically and culturally, his message in Persian Language is being translated by Dr. Bahman Samadi.

Sessions were divided into five where the first is about the history, development and future directions of both countries; the second is about a comparative approach in the revolutions they underwent; the third session is about both countries place in the global community; the fourth is about their cultural connectivity and the concluding session.
