Science Policy and Info Forum

The National Academy of Science and Technology, Philippines (NAST PHL), an
attached agency to the Department of Science and Technology, mandated by
law (Executive Order 818 s.1982) to serve as adviser to the President of
the Republic of the Philippines and the cabinet on policies concerning
science and technology in the country, is organizing the *Science Policy
and Information Forum 2019: The Philippine Blue Economy* on *January 28,
2019*, *8:30AM (Registration starts at 8:00 AM)* at *Luxent Hotel , Timog
Ave.,Diliman,* *Quezon City* .

This Science Policy and Information Forum aims to:

1. Provide an overview of the Philippine Blue Economy situation;
2. Analyze the potential and constraints of the Blue Economy vis-à-vis
Philippine development; and
3. Identify strategies and measures on how to capitalize on the Blue
Economy to accelerate national development.

DOST – NRCP Releases Statements on topics of National Interests

The National Research Council of the Philippines is a Collegial body of
highly-trained scientists and researchers, cohesively addressing the
growing demand for knowledge, skills, and innovations; sharing expertise
with all factors of the society; and effecting quality of life of the
Filipino people. It is unique in the sense that it is mandated to promote
and support basic and problem-oriented researchers, particularly those
which are multidisciplinary, in the sciences as well as in the humanities,
to identify and preparation for the future. As such, it also provides
advice on current issues and problems of national interest based on
research.

With the collective effort of its Governing Board (GB), NRCP is releasing
three (3) statements on the Creation of a Department of Culture and the
Arts, Continuing Professional Development Act, and on Bangsamoro Oranic Law
and Social Peace.

The Resolution No. 2018-83 Adopting the Statement Supporting the Creation
of a Department of Culture and Arts was drafted by the Dr. Adelaida F.
Lucero, Chair of Division XI (Humanities). Meanwhile, Resolution No.
2018-87 Adopting the NRCP Statement on the Continuing Professional
Development (CPD) Bill was prepared by the Division I (Governmental,
Educational, and International Policies). Division VIII (Social Peace with
Resolution No. 2018-91).

ADOPTING THE NRCP STATEMENT ON THE BANGSAMORO
ORGANIC LAW AND SOCIAL PEACE
After a thorough deliberation, the Governing Board adopted the Statement
of NRCP on the Bangsamoro Organic Law and Social Peace that was prepared by
NRCP Division VIII (Social Sciences) and presented to the Board by Dr.
Gregorio NRCP EH. del Pilar, Division Chair, provided on pages 2 and 3 of
this resolution. The statement will be submitted to the Department of
Science and Technology (DOST) Secretary for clearance, in accordance with
the Guidlines on Policy Statements and per Memorandum from the Department
Secretary dated 23 August 2000.
