Canada holds second education fair for the year

 The Embassy of Canada in the Philippines is organizing the 2nd Study in Canada Fair 2013 on Tuesday, 22 October 2013 at the Fairmont Hotel Makati. Representatives from 19 Canadian institutions will be present to discuss opportunities for studying in Canada at the K-12, college and university levels.

“Holding an education fair twice this year not only shows Canadian schools’ growing focus in this region but also the increasing number of students attracted by Canada’s reputation for excellence in education,“ said Karra-Lee Gerrits, senior trade commissioner of the Canadian embassy.

At the fair’s press launch in Makati, the Study in Canada video series was also shown for the first time featuring renowned Filipino alumni of Canadian education.

“Our alumni can attest to Canada being a destination of choice. They are our ambassadors who can speak of Canada’s high academic standards, affordable tuition, a safe and exciting cross-cultural environment and direct access to global career opportunities,” she added. .

Interested students and parents are invited to visit the fair at the Fairmont Hotel Makati on Tuesday, October 22 from 3:00-9:00 pm. Admission is free to attend this event.

In 2012, Canada welcomed a record of over 100,000 international students through the issuance of study permits. Today, a total of more than 260,000 international students are studying in Canada, both full- and part-time. Canada is also among the list of top three Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) member countries in terms of investment in public postsecondary and tertiary education.
