The ASEAN Business Advisory Council (ASEAN BAC) Philippines, together with Go Negosyo and the Department of Agriculture (DA) Philippines, will once again hold the second ASEAN Agriculture Summit on October 1, 2018, at SMX Convention Center, Pasay City.
With the theme “Champions and Emerging Icons of Inclusive Business, Technology, and Innovation in Agriculture,” the summit aims to inspire and empower stakeholders in the industry by recognizing those who have greatly contributed to the advancement of agribusiness.
On its second run, the ASEAN Agriculture Summit will present major ongoing developments in agriculture enterprises that operate using the inclusive business and 3Ms (money, market, mentorship) models.
“If we really want to change the landscape of prosperity for all in this country, we must pay attention and give importance to our farmers and other players in agriculture. The Philippines, as an agricultural country, with a land area of 30 million hectares, can become an even stronger player in the ASEAN, if we align our efforts to ensure that innovation in the field is supported and that the programs we develop can sustain growth,” said ASEAN BAC Philippines Chair Joey Concepcion during the summit’s first launch in 2017.
ASEAN BAC PH Chair Joey Concepcion, Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Piñol, 2018 ASEAN Business Advisory Council Chair Dr. Robert Yap, and Department of Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat will each deliver their keynote messages during the summit. House Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo was also invited as a guest speaker for this year’s Agriculture Summit.
At the summit, panelists from the Philippines and other ASEAN countries will also share their own experiences and strategies that will encourage policy adjustment and system transformation for agribusinesses. There will be five forums, which will be participated in by the key players in the agribusiness sector: (1) 3Ms Model as Championed in the Agriculture Industry, (2) Technology and Innovation as Game-changers in Agriculture, (3) Shaping the Future of Food Security and Agriculture, (4) Inclusive Finance for Agribusiness, and (5) Platforms and Opportunities in Growing Agriculture Market Access.
As part of the summit, outstanding agribusinesses, entrepreneurs, and innovators who have shown exceptional feats in the agriculture sector will also be recognized in the first-ever AGROW Awards.
