BRUNEI and PHILIPPINES signed MOU on Agri-fisheries Cooperation

SIGNING MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN THE GOVERNMENT OF HIS MAJESTY THE SULTAN AND YANG DI-PERTUAN OF BRUNEI DARUSSALAM AND THE GOVERNMENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF THE PHILIPPINES ON AGRICULTURAL AND FISHERIES COOPERATION

Manila, 2 October 2025 – Brunei Darussalam and the Republic of the Philippines have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen agricultural and fisheries cooperation with the signing of a renewed bilateral Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at the sidelines of the 47th Meeting of The ASEAN Ministers on Agriculture and Forestry (47th AMAF) and related meetings today.

Signing on behalf of Brunei Darussalam was The Hon. Dato Dr. Manaf Metussin, Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism. The Hon. Francisco P. Tiu Laurel Dr, Secretary of the Department of Agriculture signed on behalf of the Republic of the Philippines.

Her Excellency Megawati Manan, Ambassador of Brunei Darussalam to the Republic of the Philippines, was also present. The MOU followed the Letter of Intent (LOI) inked during the State Visit of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr to Brunei Darussalam on 28 and 29 May 2024 to commemorate the 40th Anniversary of Brunei-Philippines Diplomatic Relations.

The MOU will enable more opportunities for collaboration between Brunei Darussalam and the Philippines in the fields of agriculture (including livestock and poultry); fisheries, (including aquaculture); agrobiotechnology and precision technology; productivity; and standards; through information exchange, capacity building, and the promotion and facilitation of market access and investment
